Have you ever noticed that if something was in style, it would eventually be in style again? Fashion is ever changing and ever evolving, but the beauty in it is, no matter how hard we try and re-create what is new, the same amazing pieces just keep coming back. With our own unique twist of course. The 60s and 70s were some of the most iconic years of fashion. The peace and love vibe will always live on through these amazing designs.

Where it came from:

The original bohemian style was that of French travelers. In fact, the word bohemian is French for gypsy. The meaning now is used for someone who usually goes against the grain and lives an artistic lifestyle. Some people will even go as far to say that it is not just a way to dress, but a way of life.

What is represented:

The 60s and 70s were full of young kids coming into a generation much different from that of their parents. More and more people were seeking higher education, the Vietnam War was taking place and drugs were becoming more main stream every day. How does this relate to the world of fashion you might ask? The hippie, bohemian, or ‘boho’ as it is also referred to, was fashioned on the freeness of the look. The material is loose and soft, the dresses are flowy and carefree, just like the youth of the time. It was a perfect fit for the culture whether they knew it or not.

How to wear it today:

In today’s age, you don’t necessarily have to live by the same beliefs to enjoy the style. Boho-chic is all the rage and every summer we see more amazing dresses with this classic look to them. The maxi dress, one of the most comfortable pieces, is a hybrid of this look. It gives women just what they are looking for: style, ease and comfort. Most often found in a tube top style dress, the patterns that you can find in them are endless. Dress it up with a necklace, long earrings and heels to wear out, or pair it with flip flops and some bangle bracelets for a chic look,

One of the best features about the boho-chic look is that the trapeze cut dress looks good on every body shape and size. No matter what the fabric is, the cut allows the dress to flow around you, giving you an airy youthful feel.  These dresses have a distinct style but can found in so many different colors, so you can accessories this look for days. Whether it’s with roman sandals, flip flops, or suede knee-high boots, these dresses are truly fun and flowy.
